چکیده
Abstraci-This paper presents a passive end-to-end loss monitoring method, which relies on traffic monitoring at a core or ingress router interface. The monitoring node captures the packets of TCP connections generated by end-hosts. Based on the seen sequence number pattern the loss ratios are estimated for the two segments of end-to-end path divided by the monitor. This feature is especially useful if the monitoring node is placed at the border of an autonomous system, e.g., at the egress point of an ISP. When applied to mobile Internet access, packet losses on the radio interface can be distinguished from losses in the core network or in the public Internet. The packet loss estimation algorithm is rigorously validated using simulations and testbed measurements. Additionally, measurement results and an application example in a dial-up ISP are presented.

متن کاملRate-one Space Frequency Block Codes with Maximum Diversity Gain for MIMO-OFDM - Global Telecommunications Conference, 2003. GLOBECOM '03. IEEE
We proposed a novel rate-1, space-frequency (SF) code for an Orthogonal Frequencey Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system with transmit (M ) and receive (N ) antennas that achieves the maximum diversity attainable over frequencyselective channels. Since the SF code symbol is transmitted in one OFDM block duration, it has smaller processing delay than previously proposed Space-Time-Frequency (STF) ...

متن کاملA TCP-friendly congestion control scheme for real-time packet video using prediction - Global Telecommunications Conference, 1999. GLOBECOM '99
In order to cope with time-varying conditions in networks with no or limited QoS support like the current Internet, schemes have been proposed for real-time applications to dynamically adjust the traffic source's transmission rate. However, employing adaptive rate control may not be sufficient to prevent or handle network congestion. As most of the real-time applications are based on RTPKJDP pr...

* This work has been partially supported by Special Action (Spanish Ministry Science and Technology)TIC2002-10150-E. AbstractIP based networks still do not have the required degree of reliability required by new multimedia services, achieving such reliability will be crucial in the success or failure of the new Internet generation. Most of existing schemes for QoS routing do not take into consi...
